
QU Men's Tennis Sweeps Hartford, 7-0

West Hartford, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team won all nine matches Friday evening as the Bobcats rolled past the Hartford Hawks 7-0 at the Hartford Tennis Courts. The Bobcats improved to 3-0 on the season while the Hawks fall to 1-4 with the loss.
Five different Quinnipiac men's tennis players won two matches each on the even as Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey), Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) each reached their 20 wins for the season.
Senior Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) also moved up the wins list as he reached the 70 career win mark on the afternoon.
In doubles play, the Bobcats won all three matches to sweep the point and take a commanding lead. Roser and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) faced William Drumwright and Bryan Einstoss and cruised to the 6-2 victory in the first match done. Securing the doubles point, van Biezen and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) picked up a 7-5 win over Daniel Rombola and Luis Montes. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Alper finished off the doubles sweep with a tiebreaker win over Nicholas Sharwarko and Juan Molina, 7-6 (2).
Singles play was much of the same for the Bobcats. Ezaka set the tone early for the Bobcats against Drumwright with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Alper and van Biezen finished around the same time to win the match for the Bobcats. Alper took the court at No. 5 singles to win against Harrison Max, picking up the strong 6-2, 6-1 victory. At No. 4 singles, van Biezen dominated in the same fashion as he won 6-2, 6-1 over Einstoss. Roser continued his torrid start to his senior year with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Morgan White. Zaretsky picked up another victory as he plays well in his freshman season, picking up the 6-3, 7-5 win over Rombola, 6-3, 7-5. Earning the final win of the day for the Bobcats was Kuwert, has he went to three sets against Sharwarko but came back to win, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 12 P.M. with their final match of the fall season against the Saint Peter's Peacocks in MAAC action.
