
Men's Tennis Falls At Stony Brook, 5-1

BROOK, N.Y. - Senior John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) battled to a
7-6, 7-5, victory at No. 1 singles, but the Quinnipiac University
men's tennis team was defeated by Stony Brook, 5-1, Tuesday
afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats conclude the regular season
at 7-4. They'll open NEC Tournament action Friday against
sixth-seeded Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Mercer County (N.J.) Tennis
Center at 2 p.m.
Hughes edged Ivan Rummel, 7-6, 7-5, at No. 1 singles, but the Bobcats were defeated at No. 2-6 to account for the 5-1 margin. Doubles was not played due to a threat of rain.
Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) was defeated by Jon Epstein at No. 2, 6-4, 6-4, while Halvar Dil beat Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.), 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3. Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) was defeated by Mitch Wong, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4, and Ilan Shvartz beat Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.), 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5. Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) battled at No. 6, but eventually fell, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, to Palash Tiwari.
