Johnson City, Tenn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats fell in the series finale to the ETSU Buccaneers by a final score of 16-5. With the loss, the Bobcats dropped to 2-7 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats got on the board at the top of the first, scoring three runs in the opening inning. Peyton Vancas put the ball in play, reaching on a throwing error as Caden Williamson and Alexi Irizarry scored for the game's first two runs. Chase Camac made it a 3-0 game as Jack Balcer came in to score on a sacrifice fly.

After being held off the scoreboard for the first two innings, ETSU struck for four straight runs to take a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning.

James Marino knotted the game up at four with his first home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning. In the bottom half of the inning, the ETSU retook the lead to make it a 5-4 game.

Quinnipiac had the immediate response once again as Peyton Vancas launched his first home run as a Bobcat, tying the game at five.

ETSU exploded for eleven runs in the seventh and eighth (eight in the 7^th and three in the 8^th) as they finished the game with a 16-5 win in eight innings.

NEWS AND NOTES

Five Bobcats recorded hits in the series finale against ETSU.
Alex Irizarry picked up two hits in the loss, pushing his season batting average to .286.
Peyton Vancas drove in two runs in the loss, pushing his season RBI total to seven.
James Marino and Peyton Vancas both launched their first home runs of the season.
Andrew Rubayo got the start on the bump and went 5.0 innings pitched and struck out three.
Mike Poncini pitched 3.2 innings in relief and struck out two, and allowed three earned runs.

The Bobcats will be back in action next weekend, taking on UNC Greensboro for a three-game series starting on Friday, March 6^th, with first pitch scheduled for 3 PM.
