Jade records first two collegiate goals, including game-winner
HAMDEN, Conn. — Jade Barbirati scored with 2:16 left in overtime, her second goal of the game, and the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program knocked off Maine by a 4-3 final at M&T Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon, securing the sweep of the Black Bears to open the 2025-26 season.
The French national opened and finished the day's scoring, potting the first tally of the afternoon off a cross-ice pass from Bryn Prier that the first-year tapped into an open net.
The Bobcats erased a pair of one-goal deficits, coming back from 2-1 and 3-2 down to force the extra session, with Makayla Watson and Tessa Holk scoring equalizing goals.
Watson finished the day with three points, adding two assists to her goal. Felicia Frank came in relief of Bobcat starting Calli Hogarth, stopping nine of ten shots on frame.
