HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Yale Bulldogs, 5-4, in their midweek contest on Tuesday afternoon in Hamden. With the win, the Bobcats tied up the season series in their final meeting of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, the Bulldogs got on the board first in the second inning with an RBI single. Quinnipiac responded in their half of the inning to tie the game at one as Sebastian Mueller hit a solo home run.

Yale took the lead right back in the third inning thanks to a sacrifice fly. After the Bobcats didn't score in the third inning, the Bobcats put up three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead back. Christian Smith singled home Alex Irizarry to get the scoring started in the inning. Kyle Garbowski followed up with an RBI fielder's choice later in the inning to put Quinnipiac in front. Sean McCulloch added another run as he reached on a bunt single to score Luke Zeisloft.

The next inning, the Bobcats added another run to take a 5-2 lead. Zeisloft grounded out to second to score Sebastian Mueller from third.

The score remained 5-2 until the final inning. The Bulldogs put up two runs against Jack Kabel before Quinnipiac put Ryan Hutchinson in the game to close out the 5-4 win.

NEWS AND NOTES

Eight Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the win over Yale, and five of those eight batters recorded multiple hits.
Five different Bobcats recorded an RBI to power them past the Bulldogs.
Sebastian Mueller hit his tenth home run of the season which tied him for the team lead.
Christian Smith picked up two hits to push his batting average to .355, which is the highest average on the team.
Alex Irizarry recorded two doubles, pushing his season total to 14, which leads the team.
Luke Zeisloft recorded a hit and drove in his first RBI as a Bobcat on his RBI groundout.
Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 33 games and has reached base safely in 33 of 34 games he has played this season.

The Bobcats will take on the CCSU Blue Devils in a two-game series this weekend. Quinnipiac will be on the road at CCSU on Friday, April 18^th before hosting the Blue Devils on Saturday.
