Bobcats Tie Minutemen In Midweek Contest

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats opened up their home slate with a non-conference tie against the UMass Minutemen, 7-7, on Tuesday afternoon in Hamden. The game was called after the ninth inning due to darkness.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The UMass Minutemen got a quick start as they got two runs in the opening inning from a two-run home run from J. Beverly. Christian Smith got a run back in the bottom of the first for the Bobcats as he laced a double into the right-center gap to score Kyle Garbowski.
In the fourth inning, the Minutemen put four runs on the board in the top half to give themselves a 6-1 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, two hit-by-pitches forced two runs for the Bobcats. With the bases loaded, a wild pitch brought home Sean McCulloch as Quinnipiac made it a two-run game.
UMass added to their lead in the sixth inning as a single through the left side made it a 7-4 game. The Bobcats would even the game up in the eighth inning with three runs. James Marino got the inning started with a solo home run to right center. With one out in the inning, Sean McCulloch sent a single up the middle to bring home two runs and knot the game up at seven.
After a scoreless ninth inning, the game was called due to darkness and ended in a 7-7 tie.
