HAMDEN, Conn. – First-year midfielder Klara Bengtsson has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Oct. 28.
The Stockholm, Sweden native finished last week with three points, recording a goal and an assist. Bengtsson registered an assist on Anna Bean's game-winning goal in the fourth minute of action against Manhattan. In Quinnipiac's matchup with Iona on Saturday, Bengtsson had a booming strike to put the Bobcats ahead 2-1. Quinnipiac would hold on for the 2-1 win as Bengtsson recorded her 3rd game-winning goal of her career.
Klara Bengtsson is up to nine points in her first year in Hamden with three goals and three assists. Each of Bengtsson's goals stood as the game-winning goal in the contest.
Quinnipiac currently sits in first place in the MAAC with a 10-1 conference mark and have clinched a spot in the 2024 MAAC Women's Soccer Tournament. The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, October 30th as they will travel to take on the Fairfield Stags at 4 PM. The winner of that match would be crowned MAAC Regular Season Champions.
