QU Improves to 5-1-1 in 2022 Season
Hamden, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's soccer defeated Niagara, 4-0, in the 2022 MAAC opener on Saturday afternoon in Hamden.
The Bobcats move to 5-1-1 with the victory. Quinnipiac is 3-0-1 over its last four contests.
Courtney Chochol opened the scoring for the Bobcats in the 48th minute, recording her third goal of the year. Ella Gagno scored in the 59th minute, Chochol scored again in the 82nd minute, then Rebecca Cooke found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to give Quinnipiac its first MAAC victory of the season.
Meaghan Phillips got her first start of the season and took advantage, earning a clean sheet and tallying one save.

Second Half
- (48'—Quinnipiac 1, Niagara 0): The Bobcats were fouled in the box and were rewarded a penalty kick. Courtney Chochol stepped up to the ball and beat the Niagara goalkeeper to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead early into the second half.
- (70'—Quinnipiac 2, Niagara 0): Molly Andrews crossed the ball to the far side of the field to Rebecca Cooke. Cooke sent the ball to the box for Courtney Chochol. Chochol put a shot on net that was saved – before Ella Gagno buried the rebound to double the Quinnipiac lead.
- (82'—Quinnipiac 3, Niagara 0): A gorgeous cross from Olivia Scott found the feet of Rebecca Cooke on the near post. Cooke played a chip pass to the far post where Courtney Chochol was there to head the ball into the back of the net.
- (83'—Quinnipiac 4, Niagara 0): Morgan Cupo dribbled the ball to midfield before finding a streaking Cooke. Cooke played the ball past a Niagara defender and sent a shot into the back of the net to extend the lead to four.
- The Bobcats outshot the Purple Eagles 14-8, 10-1 in shots on goal.
- Rebecca Cooke has at least one point in every game this season and has scored at least one goal in the last six games.
- Chochol scored goals three and four on the year. She has two multi-goal games in 2022.
- Gagno scored her first goal of the year and third of her career.
