QU Golfers Claim Five of Top Six Spots

TRUMBULL, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's golf started the 2021-22 season off with a victory, as John O'Connor's squad defeated the Fairfield Stags in a two-team match on Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats team score of 317 (+29) was enough to defeat the Stags who finished the round with a team score of 329 (+41).

Experience was on Quinnipiac's side as the team saw solid performances from some returning players. Junior Leeyen Peralta carded a 78 (+6) to lead the Bobcats and was followed closely by junior Mia Grzywinski who finished her day with an 80 (+8).

Some new faces to the Quinnipiac roster played an important role as well. Sophomore Aimee Uchida came in with a 79 (+7) on her card. First years Elyse Kim and Fuge Zhang turned in scores of 80 (+8) in their respective collegiate debuts.

Fairfield's Sydney Nethercott led the field shooting 76 (+4).

Quinnipiac will next be challenged with a two-day tournament starting Monday, September, 20^th in Canton, Mass. as the team competes in the Boston College Intercollegiate.

Scores & Notes:

Peralta carded +3 on both the front and back nine. She recorded a birdie on the Par 4 13^th.
Kim shot +7 on the front, but came roaring back with a 37 on the back nine. Her two birdies on 13 & 14 secured her spot, T4.
Both Grzywinski & Uchida birdied the Par 5, 7^th rounding out solid front nine performances.
The Bobcats made quick work of the Par 3, 17^th, recording a team score of -1 on the hole between five golfers.
Zhang recorded the only birdie for the Bobcats on Hole 15.
Three Bobcats finished their rounds with a score of 40 on the back nine.
