HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's soccer won its first MAAC contest of the year on Saturday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium, cruising past in-state rival Fairfield by the final score of 3-0.
Kelsey Goldring (Armonk, New York) scored twice in the win for the Bobcats, while Ally Grunstein (Warren, New Jersey) chipped in with an impressive three assists.

- (31' – Quinnipiac 1, Fairfield 0): The Bobcats got the scoring started when Kelsey Goldring (Armonk, New York) received a beautiful ball across the box from Ally Grunstein (Warren, New Jersey) and buried it in the back of the net to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the game. Lauren Triglione (West Newbury, Mass.) earned the second assist on the goal.
- (43' – Quinnipiac 2, Fairfield 0): Quinnipiac extended its lead with two minutes remaining in the first half when Selena Salas (Elche-Alicante, Spain) received a ball at the top of the box from Grunstein and scored to push the Bobcats lead out to a deuce.
- (43' – Quinnipiac 3, Fairfield 0): As the Bobcats changed sides, the momentum did not as Goldring found herself in the box once again scoring on another cross from Grunstein. Grunstein ran up the right side and played the ball into the box where Goldring one-timed the ball into the net for her second goal of the game.
- With the two-goal outburst, Goldring pushed her season total to three. The Redshirt sophomore's other goal came in the Bobcats' 3-2 OT victory over UMass Lowell. Goldring now has six points so far this season.
- Salas' goal in the final moments of the first half gave the freshman her second career score. Salas now has six points so far this season, which ranks third on the team.
- Grunstein played a key role in all three of the Bobcats' goals, including a beautiful pass on Goldring's goal that gave Quinnipiac the initial 1-0 lead. With the three assists, Grunstein now has a team-high four helpers on the year.
- The Bobcats outshot Fairfield 12-9 in total, recording eight shots in the first half of action.
- Keeper Olivia Myszewski (Elm Grove, WI) made two stops, earning her third victory of the season for the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday, welcoming MAAC foe Iona to the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
