QU Men's Tennis Closes Spring Trip with Defeat to Butler

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Butler men's tennis team improved to 10-4 by taking a 6-1 win over Quinnipiac in the final match of the Bobcats' spring trip on Friday afternoon at IMG Academy. Freshman Hielke Moore won in both singles and doubles for the Bobcats to account for Quinnipiac's scoring.

NOTES:

Freshman Hielke Moore and senior Kyle Alper were able to take a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 3 doubles, but Butler was able to prevail in close battles at No. 1 (6-4) and No. 2 (7-5) to come away with the doubles point.
Moore moved up to No. 5 singles when sophomore Austin Yannone was scratched after his narrow loss at No. 2 doubles (leading to a Bobcat default on the No. 6 line).
Moore came through with his second win of the day, prevailing 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 to give the Bobcats their one point of the day.
With his win at No. 5 singles, Moore becomes the third Bobcat to reach double figures in singles wins this season, joining senior Julian Rozenstein (12) and sophomore Axel Stern (11).
Rozenstein went to three sets at No. 1 singles after taking the first-set tiebreaker 9-7, but Mason Dragos was able to bounce back with a 6-3 win in the second set and a 10-3 win in the 10-point tiebreaker for the third set.
Quinnipiac is scheduled to be back in action on Monday at home against Sacred Heart, although the match may be postponed due to frigid temperatures in the Northeast.
