HAMDEN, Connecticut – In a game that saw the Quinnipiac women's soccer team tied with Miami with just over 16 minutes to go, the Bobcats ultimately dropped a tightly-contested 3-1 match with the Hurricanes on a rainy Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Soccer Turf Complex. Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Myszewski (Elm Grove, Wisconsin) battled all afternoon in net, posting a career high 11 saves to spearhead a defensive effort that had to deal with 32 attempted shots for Miami while Nadya Gill (Toronto, Ontario) fired in a wonderful strike to tie the score in the 53rd minute.

SCORING SUMMARY
- 42:15 (Miami 1, QU 0) – After a back-and-forth first half, Miami put one past Myszewski in the 43rd minute as Lauren Markwith headed in two shot attempts, one of which was saved while the other clanged the post, before pouncing on the second rebound attempt for the opening goal
- 52:10 (Miami 1, QU 1) – As the ball crossed midfield to the foot of Gill, the junior forward made something out of nothing as she dribbled through multiple defenders before landing a perfect strike that zipped past the diving Miami keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and into the far corner for the equalizer
- 74:17 (Miami 2, QU 1) – Entering the game in the 60th minute, Miami substitute Michelle Giamportone was a game-changer as she pounced on a perfect cross from Ainsly Wolfinbarger and deposited a shot from her left foot into the opposite corner for the ultimate game-winner
- 78:26 (Miami 3, QU 1) – On a failed clear attempt, Jamie Brunworth saw an opening from distance and took the perfect shot that a diving Myszewski had no chance of landing a hand on into the top right corner of the cage for the insurance marker

NOTES
- Myszewski's 11 saves are not only good enough for a career-high but also stand as the most posted by a Quinnipiac keeper in a single-game since Kendra Margulies made 13 stops against Lehigh on September 13, 2009
- Myszewski's 11 saves stand tied for the third-most by a Quinnipiac keeper in a single-game since the program joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 1998
- Gill's second half marker is her third tally of the season as she continues to lead the MAAC in goals (three) and points (eight)
- Gill's dazzling strike was also her 20th career goal in 42 games played
- Quinnipiac was outshot heavily 32-3 including a 19-1 margin in the second half alone (one shot attempt was Gill's goal)
- Miami fired 32 shot attempts (14 on-goal) throughout play, signaling the most-ever by a Quinnipiac opponent in the Div. I era (previous high-mark of 26)
- This match marked the first time Quinnipiac faced an ACC foe and just the fourth time the program has played host to a high-major opponent (Providence three times)
PLAYER/COACH COMMENTS
Olivia Myszewski
"I thought we played pretty well, better than I expected. We got unlucky with the first goal, she knocked into one of our players and took a big shot on the nose but still scored. I think if we play them again next year, it'll be closer and we might even pull out a win."
"This game gives me a lot of confidence. We played Georgetown in the preseason so I thought it'd be a similar game and I knew I had to be pretty aggressive coming out. I think going forward in the MAAC, if we treat this game like every conference game our team is going to be unbelievable."
Head Coach Dave Clarke
"I think for about 75 minutes we made it competitive. We did well and then just that last 15 minutes, once they got their second goal it was kind of like a dagger to the heart and we were left chasing the game. That's the difference in conference and the team we're playing, if we're left chasing a team like that it usually won't go well for you."
"We learned the difference in terms of the ability of the players. Just the speed of play, you look at the difference in the third goal the way the ball just flew off her foot. Our players needed to see that. We think we have them covered and then four-to-five passes later, a goal goes in."
NEXT GAME
Quinnipiac's three-game homestand comes to an end as the Bobcats prepare for a stretch of five out of six games played away from home starting with a Sunday afternoon showdown at Dartmouth on Sunday, Sept. 10.
