
QU Men's Tennis Drops Doubleheader Against Binghamton and Army

Kei Ezaka Ties Program All-Time Wins Record
WEST POINT, New York - The Quinnipiac men's tennis team fell in a doubleheader to Binghamton, 4-3, and to Army West Point, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
With the losses, Quinnipiac falls to 8-7 (3-0 MAAC), while Binghamton improves to 5-10 and Army improved to 16-8.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) won in his doubles match, which moves him into a tie for first place on the program's all-time wins list with John Hughes.
Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) both won two matches on the day.
Zaretsky and Rozenstein got the Bobcats off to a hot start, defeating Kushaan Nath and Ludovico Cestarollo in the No. 1 doubles match, 6-2. Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) and Ezaka secured the doubles point after they defeated Frank Kote and Inigo Saez, 6-3. The win was No. 137 of Ezaka's career, which tied him with Hughes for the top spot in program history.
Quinnipiac took the doubles sweep after Axel Stern (Tustin, California) and Austin Yanonne (Severna Park, Maryland) defeated Vihar Shah and Thomas Caputo in the No. 2 doubles match, 7-6 (4).
In singles play, Zaretsky defeated Tiago Lourenco in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1. Binghamton got on the board after Valentin Bouchet defeated Stern in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-4. Cestarollo evened up the scored for Binghamton with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Ezaka.
Caputo tied the match after he defeated Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California) in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-4 in the No. 4 singles match to give Binghamton a 3-2 lead. Quinnipiac battled back to tie the match after Rozenstein defeated Kushaan Nath in straight sets, 7-6 (2) and 6-4. However, Binghamton took the final and clinching match, as Alper fell to Saez in three sets. Alper took the first set, 6-1, but lost the final two 6-4 and 6-1.

The Bobcats fell behind early as Army took all three doubles matches. Myles Conlin and Nikita Pereverzin defeated Yannone and Stern in the No. 2 match, 6-4. Michael Sienko and David Mitchell clinched the doubles point for the Black Knights as they defeated Alper and Ezaka, 6-3. Army took the sweep in the No. 1 match when Michael Nguyen and Grant Riechmann defeated Rozenstein and Zaretsky, 7-6 (8).
Army took the first three singles matches, ending the match due to it being clinching-style format. Riechmann defeated Cachaparo in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-4. Jackson Koke (Calgary, Alberta) fell to Sienko in the No. 6 match in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-0. Conlin defeated Stern in the No. 4 match, 6-3 and 6-4 in straight sets.
The rest of the singles matches went unfinished due to the clinching-style format. Ezaka was leading in his match over Nguyen, 6-3, 2-6 and 3-1 before it was called. Yannone was up over Anant Mundra, 6-4, 3-6 and 2-1. Rozenstein and Sam Lampman's match was called after Lampman took the first set, 6-3 then Rozenstein took the second set 6-3. The match ended after Lampman took a 1-0 lead in the second set.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5, when Quinnipiac travels to take on Marist at 3 p.m.
