
Strong Second Half Leads QU Acrobatics & Tumbling To 280-277 Win Against Alderson Broaddus

PHILIPI, West Virginia – Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling shook-off a first-half deficit to come-from-behind and defeat Alderson Broaddus, 280.620 – 277.010. The win is Quinnipiac's first of the season as they improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in ECAC Acrobatics & Tumbling. Alderson Broaddus drops to 3-2 on the season.
The Battlers took the first three events of the meet to head into halftime with a 96.30-94.90 lead. The Bobcats dropped the Compulsory event, 37.75-37.40, with AB taking the Acro and Tumbling heats and the two teams tying in the Pyramid and Toss heats. AB then grabbed the Acro event, 29.40-28.80, as the Bobcats posted 9.60 in the 5 Element, 6 Element and 7 Element heats. In the Pyramid event, AB took the Inversion and Synchronized heats before Quinnipiac edged the Battlers, 9.80-9.75, in the Open heat.
Coming out of the break, Quinnipiac dominated the action as they took both the Toss Event (28.70-28.40) and the Tumbling event (55.750-52.650) while winning eight of the nine heats across the two events. The Tumbling event featured season-high scores in the 6 Element Pass (9.83) and the Open Pass (9.88).
The difference in the meet came in the Team event that Quinnipiac won, 101.27-99.66. Through its first two meets, Quinnipiac had struggled in the Team event, averaging 93.29, through two competitions. The Bobcats' 101.27 was a season-best while the start value differential (7.10) was its lowest of the season.
Quinnipiac's spring break continues with a competition at King University in Bristol, Tennessee on Saturday, Mar. 18.
