
QU Men's Tennis Battles Hard, Falls to Brown on the Road

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - The Quinnipiac men's tennis team played a tough match Saturday afternoon, as it took on the Brown Bears, falling 7-0 at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Brown extended its winning streak to four matches in the win while Quinnipiac fell to 4-3 on the season.
The Bears took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to claim the point in contested matchups. Axel Stern (Tustin, California) and Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) teamed up at No. 2 doubles, but fell to Brown's Anthony Arocho and Jack Haworth, 6-3. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) fell to Peter Tarwid and Aaron Sandberg at No. 3 doubles, 6-4. Due to the clinching format, the match between Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) and Gregory Garcia and Lucas Da Silveira went unfinished.
Sandberg and Rozenstein were the first singles match of the day to finish up, with Sandberg winning the No. 3 singles match, 6-2, 6-4. Zaretsky followed with an intense battle with Haworth at the No. 2 singles draw, with Zaretsky picking up the first set 6-2, but ultimately falling 6-2, 7-6 (4). Ezaka fell to Tarwid at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-0.
At No. 4 singles, Stern and Peter Litsky battled, but Stern was edged in two sets, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Yannone took on Mladden Mitak, with Mitak pulling out the win 6-2, 6-4. At No. 5 singles, Alper nearly pulled out the victory for the Bobcats over Arocho after coming to win the first set. However, Arocho pulled away in the third set, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when the Bobcats travel to take on Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Niagara at 3 p.m. Quinnipiac will then travel to take on Buffalo the next day at noon.
