QU Women's Tennis Falls in Tough Road Match Against Buffalo

BUFFALO, New York - The Quinnipiac women's team lost in a tough road out of conference matchup against Buffalo, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss the Bobcats fall to 4-4 (3-0 MAAC), while Buffalo improves to 3-3.
The day began with the No. 1 doubles match, where the Quinnipiac duo of Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) fell to Margaritay Kotak and Tanja Stojanovska, 6-2. Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) and Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) fell in the No. 2 doubles match to Chantel Blanco and Anna Savchenko, 6-3. The Bobcat duo of Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) fell to Haley Hollins and Laura Holterbosch, 6-3, giving Buffalo a 1-0 lead going into singles play.
Quinnipiac couldn't gain momentum going into singles play as they dropped six straight matches. In the No. 4 singles draw, Rodriguez lost in straight sets to Emel Abibula, 6-2 and 6-3. Horton fell in her No. 2 singles match against Blanco in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-3. In the No. 3 draw, Young lost to Rubio, 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets. In the No. 1 draw, Lu fell to Stojanovska in a back and forth two sets, 6-4 and 6-4. Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) fell to Savchenko in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2. The day ended after Nicole Katzarkov (Coral Gables, Florida) fell to Kotok in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 26, when they travel to New Haven to take on in-state rival Yale at 2 p.m.
