QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Falls to Oregon in the NCATA Semifinals, 283.405-274.995

WACO, Texas – The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team fell to the Oregon Ducks in the NCATA Semifinals on Monday night, 283.405-274.995. The loss capped off a historic season for the Bobcats as their 7-3 overall record marks the most wins in program history.
Oregon took five of the six events from Quinnipiac while the two schools tied in the Pyramid event. With the win, the Ducks advanced to the NCATA Championship on Tuesday night against the winner of No. 1 Baylor vs. No. 4 Hawaii Pacific.
Oregon took an early lead with victories in both the Compulsory and Acro rounds. The Bobcats fell in the opening event, 38.85-37.95, but QU captured the Pyramid heat with a 9.80 and tied the Ducks in the Toss heat with a 9.90.
The Ducks then won their second consecutive event by sweeping Quinnipiac in the Acro event. The Bobcats scored a 29.00 but could not overcome the 29.35 put up by Oregon. QU registered scores of 9.65, 9.70 and 9.65 in the three heats.
In the Pyramid event, both schools tied with a mark of 29.70. Quinnipiac produced a 9.95 in the Flip heat and took the Release heat with a 9.90. Heading into the break, the Bobcats trailed Oregon by 1.25 points.
Oregon edged QU in the Toss, 28.85-28.50 to extend its advantage heading into the Tumbling round. The Ducks won two of the heats but tied the Bobcats in the Synchronized heat with a 9.40. On Saturday night, Allee Tallman (Farmington, New York), Noelle Brasier (Simi Valley, California), Taylor Johnson (Foxboro, Massachusetts), Catherine Toma (Hackettstown, New Jersey), Jenna Capristo (Wolcott, Connecticut), Kelsey Rule (Kendall Park, New Jersey), Kayla McCormack (Hanson, Massachusetts), Jordan Cavallaro (Bloomingdale, New Jersey), Stephanie Amaral (Stoughton, Massachusetts) and Alexandra Williams (Poughkeepsie, New York) all combined efforts to capture the Individual Event Title in the same heat with another 9.40.
In the Tumbling round, the Ducks captured five of the six heats while taking the event, 56.825-55.125. Senior top Taylor Johnson (Foxboro, Massachusetts) won the Open Pass with an impressive score of 9.775.
