
Kei Ezaka, Freddie Zaretsky Advance in Singles Main Draw on Day Two of ITA Northeast Regional

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Quinnipiac men's tennis sophomore Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) and senior Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) each picked up individual victories on day two of the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Friday afternoon.
Ezaka and Zaretsky fell in the doubles main draw, but made up for it with a strong showing in the singles draw, with both Bobcats advancing to the second round of play.
The day began in the doubles main draw where Ezaka and Zaretsky teamed up to take on Miguel Alda and Michal Rolski of Columbia. Ezaka and Zaretsky battled hard, but fell to the duo from Columbia, 8-2, eliminating the Bobcats from doubles competition.
Zaretsky had the first singles match for the Bobcats on the day, taking on Victor Li of Fordham University. Zaretsky was able to cruise to a solid 6-3 and 6-4 win in straight sets. Ezaka followed with a match of his own against Lukas Zvikas of NJIT. Ezaka dropped the first set 7-5, however, he was able to comeback and win the second 6-1. In the deciding set, Ezaka fought hard and won 6-3, advancing to the next round.
Ezaka and Zaretsky will be back in action on day three of the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament in the singles main draw bracket. Zaretsky will take on Adam Ambrozy of Columbia, while Ezaka will take on the No. 2 seed David Volfson of Cornell.
