QU Men's Tennis Sweeps Saint Peter's, 7-0

Jersey City, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team celebrated its second dual win in of the season as the Bobcats made quick work of Saint Peter's, sweeping the Peacocks 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats won in commanding fashion, as they only yielded one set to the Peacocks on the day. All six Bobcats in action on the day earned two victories, improving Quinnipiac's record to 2-0 (2-0 MAAC), while Saint Peter's falls to 0-3 (0-1 MAAC).
The day began with the No. 1 doubles match, where Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) and Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California) took on Jorge Rodriguez and Ivan Knezevic, defeating the Saint Peter's duo, 6-1. The freshman duo of Axel Stern (Tustin, California) and Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) followed with a win of their own, defeating Andres-Sebastian Rojas and Douglas Nover, 6-2. The Bobcats closed doubles play with a win when Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) defeated Jonathan Paredes and Cuong Lam, 6-4, securing the doubles point and 1-0 lead for the Bobcats.
The competition moved into singles play, where the Bobcats continued their dominance, winning six straight matches. Stern got singles play started in the No. 3 singles match, where he defeated Knezevic, 6-0 and 6-1 in straight sets. Zaretsky then followed suit, defeating Rodriguez, 6-3 and 6-1 in straight sets. The Bobcats kept the winning-streak alive when Rozenstein faced Rojas in the No. 2 singles match. Rozenstein made quick work of Begley, defeating him 6-2 and 6-4 in straight sets.
As singles play continued, Quinnipiac never let up. Yannone swept Paredes 6-1 in straight sets, then Cachapero took on Nover. Cachapero took the first set 6-1 then dropped the second 7-5. However he was able to close with a 10-3 win in the final set.The Bobcats finished strong when Haraguchi downed Gabe Russotto 6-2 and 6-3 in straight sets, giving the Bobcats the 7-0 win.
Up next for Quinnipiac is a trip to Storrs, where the Bobcats will take on the UConn Huskies on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 12 P.M.
