
Kyle Alper Records 20th Individual Victory of Season, QU Men's Tennis Falls to Brown, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team fell to the Brown Bears in its first match of the spring, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Brown Varsity Tennis Courts.
Freshman Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) picked up the lone singles win on the day for the Bobcats. The No. 3 doubles team of Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) picked up a victory as well, but the Bears took the doubles point win two of the three matches.
Roser and van Biezen defeated Brown's Ivan Kravtchenko and Aaron Sandberg, 7-5, in the No. 3 doubles matchup to pick up their first wins of the spring. The Bobcats top two doubles teams both fell to the Bears as Brown took the point.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) competed in No. 1 doubles and fell, 6-4, to Brown's pairing of Justin To and Gregory Garcia. In No. 2 doubles, Brown's Peter Tarwid and Brandon Yeoh knocked off Quinnipiac's Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, New York) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey), 6-1, to secure the point.
In singles, Alper competed in the No. 6 slot where he took on Anthony Arocho and the two battled in the longest match of the day. Alper came back from down one set to win the final two for his first victory of the spring; 1-6, 6-4, 10-3. Alper's victory was already the 20th of his young collegiate career.
Ezaka lost in No. 1 singles against To; 6-2, 6-3 and Kuwert shared a similar fate, losing to Garcia; 6-3, 6-4. Ambrosio put up a fight in No. 3 singles against Kravtchenko and almost came away with the first set, but lost the match; 7-6 (3), 6-2. Rosenstein had a tough matchup at No. 4 with Tarwid and lost in straight sets; 6-1, 6-1, as did Roser in No. 5 singles against Yeoh; 6-0, 6-2.

The Bobcats match against the Boston University Terriers scheduled for Sunday was postponed due to the impending snowstorm expected to impact much of New England. No makeup date has been announced. The Bobcats will return to action next Saturday when they travel to West Point, New York to face the Army Black Knights 9 A.M. at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
