PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Quinnipiac women's golf team finished tied for 15th out of 20 teams at the 2013 Rutgers Women's Golf Invitational at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J. Four of the five Bobcats improved on their first-round score while the fifth was two strokes off Monday's pace.

Alexa Gentile (Avon, Conn.) showed the largest improvement, trimming her first-day score by eight strokes. Gentile carded a 91 on Monday and turned in an 83 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 174. Jenn Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) cut five strokes off her score from the day before to finish with an 86 for the round and 177 for the tournament.
"I'm very pleased with Alexa Gentile's round today," head coach John O'Connor said. "It's a sign that she can compete at this level. She's shown a lot of improvement over the last couple of weeks."
Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) shot a team-best 78 to finish with a 159 for a tie of 34th place as the Bobcats' top finisher. To date, nine of Scola's 11 career 18-hole rounds have been sub-80 scores. Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) shot an 81 on Tuesday to finish at 163 for a tie of 57th place while Emilly Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) turned in an 84 for a two-day 166.
"We're struggling as a team, just a little bit," O'Connor said. "We're hoping to have it resolved as we prepare for our own tournament next week."
Quinnipiac will host the third annual Quinnipiac Classic on Oct. 21-22 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. Live scoring will be available for the tournament at the Official Website of Quinnipiac Athletics, www.QuinnipiacBobcats.com.
