
Women's Tennis Defeats NEC Rival Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-3

After FDU won the doubles point with victories at all three flights, the Bobcats responded with wins at the top three singles flights to take a 3-1 lead in the match. Cantor got things started with a 6-3, 7-5, victory over Elmine Botes at No. 1, before Markison got past Irina Dementyeva, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2. Labarthe made it 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-2, victory against Julia Prantl at No. 3.
FDU tied the match with wins at Nos. 4 and 5. Egzona Morina defeated Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.), 6-3, 7-5, at No. 4 before Manuela Leme edged Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany), 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5. With the match on the line, Cristescu came back from down a set to defeat Dzana Ferhatbegovic, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
The Bobcats return to action Sunday, when they play host to Stony Brook. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. The match will serve as the Bobcats' Senior Day, with ceremonies beginning at approximately 12:45 p.m.
