
Women's Tennis Defeats NEC Rival Long Island, 6-1

Cantor defeated Linn Sjogren, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, while Markison got past Aleksandra Pavlovic, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2. Labarthe ran her singles winning streak to six matches with a 7-5, 6-2 victory against Taysha Blessington at No. 3, while Viebrock won her fourth straight against Dara Lahens, 6-1, 6-2.
Steinert defeated Fatima Ouattara, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5, while Cristescu took a point by default, as Long Island had no player for the sixth flight.
Long Island took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2. Blessington and Pavlovic defeated Markison and Cantor, 8-4, at No. 1, while Sjogren and Lahens got past Labarthe and Viebrock, 8-5, at No. 2. Quinnipiac took credit for No. 3 singles, suiting up Steinert and Cristescu, while Long Island had no players for the flight.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, when they face Washington University of St. Louis. First serve is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
