Softball Defeats Merrimack, Looks to Senior Day

HAMDEN, Conn.—The Quinnipiac softball team defeated Merrimack at home on Thursday, April 20 by a score of 3-2. The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth until the Warriors tied it up at two in the sixth. QU responded quickly in the bottom of the sixth to take the 3-2 victory.

The Bobcats will now look to MAAC opponent Iona as the program is set to honor six seniors and graduate students on Friday, April 21.

SCORING SUMMARY
Fourth Inning-

The Bobcats took the lead in the fourth as a double from Bridget Nasir to start the inning brought Natalia Apatiga to the plate where a sacrifice bunt advanced Nasir into scoring position. Lala Pascual's single brought Nasir home.
Pascual advanced to second on a passed ball and a double from Serena Fogg gave QU a 2-0 lead into the fifth.

Sixth Inning-

Merrimack tied it up at two in the top of the sixth, Lanpher was put into scoring position after advancing to second on a passed ball and was brought home by a double to left center from Sydney Samuel. Samuel scored on a single to right field by Madison Metcalf.
The Bobcats answered Merrimack's tying run with one of their own as Pascual scored on an error at left.

NOTES

Pascual went 3-2 at the plate with two runs, two hits, and one RBI.
S. Fogg has two hits and two RBIs.
Sydney Horan pitched 5.1 innings, striking out five, allowing only one hit and a 0.00 ERA.
M. Fogg tallied her 35^th hit of the season leading the team this season as a first year.
The Bobcats will host their senior day on Friday, April 21 against Iona.
