Bobcats Fall to Manhattan in Final Regular Season Matchup

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac softball team lost to the Manhattan Jaspers in their first of two on Sunday, May 7. The Bobcats posted four runs in the matchup but it wasn't enough as Manhattan took the game by a score of 7-4. QU dropped a close second matchup after trailing by two after two the Bobcats managed to cut the Jasper's lead in half but it wasn't enough as the Jasper's won 2-1.

SCORING SUMMARY
Game one
First Inning-
- The Jaspers took an early 2-0 lead off of two one run singles to center field.
 
- Manhattan added four more to the board in the bottom of the second frame. Inhat scored on a single followed by Villalabos who touched home on a fielder's choice. Another fielder's choice gave Flood and Rende time to cross home.
 
- The Jasper's held a 6-0 lead into the sixth before the Bobcats added three runs in the top of the inning. Mary Fogg scored on a sacrifice flyout to right field. Followed by Serena Fogg's two-run RBI double to left center.
 - Manhattan put up another run in the bottom of the frame, as Mazzotta singled to right and brought Inhat home.
 
- One last push from the Bobcats featured Apatiga's double to left to bring in M. Fogg and cut Manhattan's lead to three. It wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell 7-4.
 
NOTES
- Mary Fogg went 3-3 at the plate, with two runs.
 - Natalia Apatiga posted one run, one hit, one RBI and one double.
 - Apatiga has had at least one double in her last three games.
 - Serena Fogg has one hit, two RBI's and one double.
 - Taylor Walton pitched 5.0 innings, posting a 0 ERA and allowing only two hits and three runs.
 
First Inning-
- Mazzotta opening the scoring in game two for the Jasper's as she crossed home on a sacrifice flyout to right field by Deemer.
 
- Hoag scored the game winning run for Manhattan as Mazzotta singled and reached second on a fielding error by left field to give Hoag time to cross homeplate.
 
- The Bobcats cut the Jasper's lead in half as Mac Davis pinch ran for Logan Angers after she doubled to right center. M. Davis scored on a fielder's choice on Bridget Nasir's at bat.
 
NOTES
- Logan Angers went 1-2 at the plate with one double.
 - Angers recorded her first hit as a Bobcat.
 - Bridget Nasir recorded the lone RBI of game two.
 - Jackie Gonzalez pitched 4.0 innings, striking out five and allowing only one hit.
