With the losses, the Bobcats fell to 1-5 on the season, while the Wolf Pack improved to 8-0 on the campaign.
GAME ONE: #9 NC State 12, QU 10 (10 innings)
The Bobcats struck first for four runs in the opening frame to jump ahead 4-0. With the bases loaded in the first, Sam LaChance scored Anthony Donofrio from third on a groundout to short. Danny Melnick immediately followed with a two-run double to left to push the Quinnipiac lead to 3-0. After a Keegan O'Connor single moved Melnick to third, he came around to score on a wild pitch to cap the four-run frame for Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats struck again in the fourth inning for two runs behind an RBI double from Donofrio, followed by an RBI single from Julian Uejima to extend the QU lead to 6-0. After holding the Wolfpack scoreless through three frames, NC State broke through for three combined runs in the fourth and fifth innings to cut the Bobcats' lead to 6-3.
However, a three-run seventh inning, led-off with a solo homer from Sam LaChance gave Quinnipiac a 9-3 advantage before the Wolfpack posted two in the bottom of the frame to cut the QU lead to 9-5. The Bobcats responded with a run of their own in the top of the eighth, courtesy of an RBI double from Michael Kohn to extend the advantage to 10-5.
However, the Wolfpack tallied a combined seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to knot the contest at 10-10 entering the ninth. Neither side was able to muster a run in the ninth, forcing extra innings.
After the Bobcats didn't score in the top of the inning, NC State walked it off in the bottom of the tenth to win, 12-10.
GAME TWO: #9 NC State 16, QU 4 (7 innings)
The Wolfpack scored a combined 12 runs through the first four innings of play. QU got on the board with a solo homer from Sean Swenson in the fifth, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats eventually fell, 16-4.
